Casa Amarilla, which translates to “Yellow House,” is the ideal place for travelers who crave the comfort of real living spaces during their journey in Puerto Escondido.

The founder, Steven Landon, came to Mexico in 2006 after owning and operating Sellwood Cycle Repair for 20 years in Portland, Oregon. Once in Mexico, he came across a mezcal producing village in the mountains of Oaxaca where families had been producing the traditional beverage from a wild agave for generations. He soon struck up a friendship and partnership with the producers and is now the owner of “Mezcal de Puta Madre.” Finding his ties and love of Mexico growing by the day, he started plans to create what is now Casa Amarilla.

KITCHEN
As Casa Amarilla is home to The Mexykan Supper Club operated by Anthony Beatty, one of Puerto Escondido’s finest chefs, it is also home to one of the finest kitchens in the city. The kitchen is stocked with professional quality cutlery and cookware, local spices and (everyone’s favorite) a Pasquini espresso machine next to freshly ground, locally grown Oaxacan coffee.

POOLSIDE GARDEN
Food is important to us and that is why we have a diverse garden that includes key lime, banana, palm and coffee trees along with mandarins, chiles, peppers, rosemary, basil and tomatoes. Feel free to use these fresh herbs and fruits to make a home-cooked meal.

With a swimming pool that can be enjoyed night or day, the garden full of places to relax next to birds of paradise, lilies and wild iris not to mention Amaryllis flowers the size grapefruits.
